Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Island life

How Many Islands Can You Have in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream?

At a glance

Each console user gets one save and their own island. Different users on the same console can have separate islands. To start again while keeping your original island, play with another console user instead of deleting the existing save.

One island per console user

Living the Dream saves an island separately for each user on the console. Two family members can use different console users and have different islands.

The limit is one save per user, not one shared island for the entire console. Do not apply Animal Crossing’s one-island-per-console rule here.

Start another island without losing the first

  1. Keep the original user’s save data.
  2. Select another existing console user, or create a new user.
  3. Start Living the Dream with that user.
  4. Begin that user’s separate island.

The original island remains tied to its original user. A single user cannot keep several separate island slots inside the game.

Switch and Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch game is playable on Nintendo Switch 2 with the same game content. Compatibility does not mean two consoles automatically synchronize an island.

Moving an existing save between consoles is a save-transfer task, separate from making a second user’s island.
